Bishops of the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches Convene for Spring Meeting at Mor Aphrem Center


Paramus, NJ – On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, Archbishop and Patriarchal Vicar for the Eastern United States, hosted the Spring Bishops Meeting of the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches (SCOOCh).
 
Present at the meeting were His Grace Anba David, Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of New York & New England and President of SCOOCh, His Eminence Mor Titus Yeldo, Archbishop of the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church, His Eminence Mor Silvanos Ayub, Metropolitan of the Knanaya Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church, His Grace Bishop Makarios and His Grace Bishop Sinoda of the Canonical Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church Diocese, His Grace Bishop Gabriel of the Coptic Orthodox Church, and His Reverence Father Mesrop Parsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America.
 
The assembled hierarchs discussed a number of important issues, including the Standing Conference’s ongoing dialogue with other communions, plans for the next concelebration of the Divine Liturgy, and a variety of pastoral matters.
 
After the meeting everyone was invited for an Agape meal, graciously prepared by their hosts, the clergy and staff of the Mor Aphrem Center.
