New York, NY – On January 29, 2026, representatives of the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches (SCOOCh) participated in a prayer service for Christian unity, prayed in the Armenian Rite and organized jointly by the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North America. Present at the service were SCOOCh hierarchs His Grace Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan and His Eminence Archbishop Vicken Aykazian – Primate and Ecumenical Officer respectively of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church – as well as priests and deacons representing His Grace Bishop David (SCOOCh President and Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of New York & New England), His Eminence Archbishop Mor Dionysios John Kawak (Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese of the Eastern United States), His Eminence Archbishop Petros (Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Archdiocese of New York & Its Surroundings), His Eminence Archbishop Mor Titus Yeldho (Malankara Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church) and Their Graces Bishop Makarios and Bishop Sinoda of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church Archdiocese of North America & Its Affiliated Regions.
The service was hosted by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, Most Honorable Exarch of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. Also in attendance were His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan of the Armenian Prelacy, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, His Grace Bishop Gregory Mansour of the Maronite Eparchy of Brooklyn, and the clergy and faithful of a variety of other Christian traditions.
