Malankara Liturgy at St. Peter’s Syriac Orthodox Church.

On Saturday, February 27, 2016, the Malankara Syriac Orthodox parish of St. Peter’s Syriac Orthodox Cathedral hosted a Malankara liturgy, welcoming Fr. Abraham Wassef of St. Mina’s Coptic Orthodox Church, Holmdel, NJ to co-celebrate the liturgy with Fr. Joy John and Fr. Jose Daniel.  The parish youth welcomed Coptic Orthodox youth in the celebration with Matins and Liturgy from 9AM to 11AM.

Afterwards, Fr. Abraham Wassef gave a brief word, showing the joy of sharing the common faith and table of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, and giving a new spiritual dimension to the lesson of 1 Corinthians 12:20, “now indeed there are many members, yet one body”.  Then, there was a lecture given by youth servants Jordanis Joy and Basil Pattammady about the history of Christianity in India as well as most popularly canonized saints in the Malankara Orthodox tradition.  There was also an agape brunch, where some of the youth got to know one another.
