Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches Convenes for Winter Meeting


Fair Lawn, NJ – Today – January 30, 2020 – the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches (SCOOCh) convened for its winter meeting. The convocation was hosted by His Grace Bishop Daniel Findikyan of the Armenian Diocese, who was joined by his fellow hierarchs His Eminence Mor Dionysios John Kawak of the Syriac Archdiocese and His Eminence Mor Titus Yeldho of the Malankara-Syriac Archdiocese, as well as priests and deacons of the Armenian, Coptic, Eritrean, Ethiopian, and Syriac Orthodox Churches.

The meeting was opened with prayer in the Armenian Rite in the sanctuary of St. Leon’s Armenian Church before the assembled delegates adjourned to the Abajian Hall where they tackled a variety of topics, including SCOOCh’s ongoing dialogues with the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, the convening of regional Oriental Orthodox clergy associations, the bylaws of the assembly, youth events, and upcoming concelebrations of the Divine Liturgy. The delegates enjoyed the hospitality of His Grace Bishop Daniel, parish priest Fr. Diran Bohajian, and the ladies of St, Leon’s, who prepared a sumptuous repast for their guests. The Standing Conference prays that God will continue to bless their efforts to serve the people of His Church.
